On October 8, the Ethereum L2 network Linea Forum launched a proposal on Linea decentralization. The proposal stated that its goal is to make Linea a fully decentralized L2 chain, and outlined some important suggestions to achieve this goal, including decentralization of block verification, recovery mode, block proposers, finalization of Linea blocks on L1, reward distribution, etc. The proposal stated that in order to decouple reward distribution from the consensus protocol, validators need to build a consensus state Merkle tree that represents the different operations performed by each participant, including voting and block proposals.
