Support for payment cards will end on December 20, 2023.

Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, said in a blog post on October 20 that it would stop offering Visa debit card products in Europe.

The company said the cards will no longer be available in the European Economic Area (EEA) and existing cards will not work after December 20. The termination date comes just over three years from the card’s September 2020 launch date.

This policy change will affect users in nearly 40 supported European countries, including Germany, France, Italy, Spain, and Poland. Current reporting from Bloomberg suggests the change will affect about 1% of the company's user base.

Binance added that the termination of the card program will affect the company’s Ukrainian Refugee Crypto Card program launched in April 2022. The program offers verified refugees a free card and a starting balance of $75 per month.

The discontinuation of European Card services will not eliminate all services and payment options in the region. Binance assured European users that their primary accounts would not be affected. It added that users can continue to use the Binance Pay app to spend cryptocurrencies at compatible merchants, although the app does not appear to be as widely accepted as Visa cards, which are supported by 60 million merchants worldwide.

The company also said cashback rewards for successful transactions will continue as usual and said users can order replacement cards until December 6.

Binance Slicing Service

Binance has also reduced card availability outside of Europe, discontinuing the option for customers in Latin America and the Middle East in August.

The company has reduced other services in Europe. Binance said it will lose Paysafe as a bank transfer partner in June 2023. Binance has also completely withdrawn from certain European markets, including Austria, the Netherlands, and Cyprus, and withdrew its license application in Germany over the past few months.

And, despite the country no longer being a member of the European Union (EU), Binance also stopped accepting UK users due to new advertising rules. #币安 #欧盟
