**Australian Police Crack $6.4M Crypto Case in Operation Kraken**
The Australian Federal Police (AFP) has successfully accessed $6.4 million in cryptocurrency tied to a suspect in Operation Kraken. The suspect, Jay Je Yoon Jung, allegedly created the encrypted messaging app "Ghost," used by organized crime for drug trafficking and money laundering.
AFP analysts cracked Jung's seed phrase from digital devices seized at his home, allowing them to transfer the crypto to secure AFP storage. This crypto will eventually be forfeited to the government to fund law enforcement.
Jung, arrested on Sept. 17, faces multiple charges, including supporting a criminal organization, with a potential 26-year sentence. The AFP claims Ghost facilitated serious crimes, but their covert infiltration helped prevent 50 threats to kill or harm.
