Layer 1 relational blockchain Chromia announced the establishment of a $20 million data and artificial intelligence ecosystem fund at the TOKEN2049 conference in Singapore, and will also launch the "Asgard" mainnet upgrade.

Chromia Data and AI Ecosystem Fund: Expanding the Ecosystem

As part of its strategy to expand into the data center sector and stimulate ecosystem growth after the mainnet launch, Chromia announced the establishment of a $20 million Data and AI Ecosystem Fund, which will be led by its head of business development, Yeou Jie, to support data-intensive projects and AI applications.

Yeou Jie, who joined Chromia in early 2024 and previously served as portfolio director at DeFiance Capital, said: “We believe that any project that processes large amounts of data requires data cleaning and automation to enable artificial intelligence, and Chromia provides an ideal environment for developers to build solutions that can process, analyze, and respond to complex data sets in real time.”

Chromia co-founder Henrik Hjelte added: “By supporting AI and other data-centric solutions, Chromia will seek broader partnerships while further expanding the ecosystem in new directions.”

“Asgard” Mainnet Upgrade: Introducing Extended Functionality

In addition to the fund, Chromia also announced that it will upgrade the "Asgard" mainnet in the fourth quarter of 2024. This upgrade will introduce the "Extensions" function, which aims to introduce customized blockchains with new functions into the platform. These extensions will be available to native Chromia dApps and external clients, thereby realizing the platform's extended functions.

It is reported that Chromia’s proposed extended functions include: oracle solutions, AI model calculations, and data availability and zero-knowledge proof support.

Earlier this year, Chromia officially launched its mainnet and used an on-chain relational database architecture, which not only enables efficient management of large amounts of interconnected data, but also optimizes and improves on-chain queries. The on-chain relational database architecture allows Chromia to serve as both an independent decentralized application platform and a relational data layer for Web3 projects based on other blockchains. In addition to supporting game projects such as MyNeighbor Alice and Mines of Dalarnia, Chromia also plans to enter the data market and deepen its presence in games and other industries.

According to the relevant plan, the Chromia Data and Artificial Intelligence Ecosystem Fund has begun accepting applications. The "Asgard" mainnet upgrade is expected to be launched at the end of this year. The "extension" function will also be developed as planned and is expected to be fully launched in 2025.
