The UK Gambling Commission has accused blockchain-based fantasy sports operator Sorare of providing unlicensed gambling facilities. The France-based company is due to appear in a UK court on October 4. It’s a rare move for the British agency and appears to have been three years in the making.
Sorare offers collectible digital cards, allowing players to compete with fantasy teams they create using NFTs. The company has said it is not a gambling product and that the Commission has misunderstood its business.
