Roman Storm, a co-founder of Tornado Cash, will face trial after a judge denied his motion to dismiss charges brought by the U.S. government. Storm is accused of conspiracy to commit money laundering, sanctions violations, and operating an unlicensed money-transmitting business.
He could face up to 45 years in prison if convicted on all counts. The judge rejected Storm's defense that he was merely a software developer, citing allegations that Tornado Cash was designed for illicit purposes and funded with profits in mind. The trial is set for December 2, 2024.
