FATF urges India to strengthen virtual asset regulation
The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) announced on Thursday that India has "achieved a high level of technical compliance with FATF Recommendations and has taken significant steps to implement them" following a joint assessment with the Asia-Pacific Group on Money Laundering (APG) and the Eurasian Group (EAG). But areas for improvement were noted, particularly in the regulation of non-financial sectors and virtual asset providers. India was urged to adopt a risk-based approach to protect non-profit organizations and address delays in prosecution of financial crimes.
Harris raised four times as much as Trump in the final sprint of the election
Vice President Kamala Harris raised and spent far more money than former President Donald Trump in August, and she will have more cash at the end of the month to make a final push for the November election, according to new Federal Election Commission filings. The Harris campaign raised more than $189 million in August, more than four times the $44 million raised by the Trump campaign. The figures reflect money raised specifically for the candidate's main campaign account and do not include contributions to other arms of their political activities. The Harris campaign announced earlier this month that it raised a total of $361 million in campaign contributions in August in conjunction with the Democratic National Committee and fundraising committees. In comparison, the $130 million raised by the Trump campaign and its joint fundraising committees pales in comparison.

It is reported that the relevant lawsuit is the first enforcement action taken by the SEC against this crypto scam, just one day before the U.S. House Financial Services Committee is preparing to hold a hearing on the "pig-killing" scam. Gurbir S. Grewal, director of the U.S. SEC's enforcement division, said in a press statement that relationship-based investment scams, including those involving crypto asset investments, pose a huge risk to retail investors, and this threat is increasing rapidly as these scams become more popular among scammers. What is the Ethereum Prague-Electra (Pectra) upgrade?
Ethereum’s Pectra upgrade combines two separate upgrades: the Prague upgrade and the Electra upgrade. The Prague upgrade focused on changes to the network’s execution layer, while the Electra upgrade affects the consensus layer. These upgrades are collectively referred to as the “Pectra” upgrade when combined. The Pectra upgrade will follow “Dencun,” a merger of the Deneb and Cancun upgrades in March 2024. Technically, Dencun is an Ethereum hard fork designed to reduce transaction fees for Layer 2 solutions. Pectra is a new milestone on the Ethereum development roadmap and is scheduled to go live in Q1 2025.
