Unconsciously, Trump has set a new record: the first former president in American history to pay with Bitcoin.
On Wednesday local time, Trump appeared at PubKey, a cryptocurrency-themed bar in Manhattan, New York, and shouted that he would treat everyone present to burgers.
The scene showed that the bar owner brought a Bitcoin payment code, and Trump tried to scan the code with a customized iPhone to pay, but was soon confused by modern technology. Then the bar owner and assistant took over to complete the payment process. Amid the cheers on the scene, Trump showed his signature smile and shouted "History is being made."
In an interview with Bitcoin Magazine, Trump said about PubKey: "I think this is a great place," and urged Bitcoin enthusiasts who frequent the bar to vote in November this year.
After the transaction was completed, Trump introduced himself to everyone present, accompanied by bar owner Thomas Pakia. “This is one of the most significant Bitcoin transactions ever,” Pacija said.
