According to Foresight News, according to Decrypt, the Louisiana government has officially begun accepting cryptocurrency payments. The state's treasurer, John Fleming, announced earlier this week that residents can now use Bitcoin (BTC), Bitcoin Lightning Network, and the dollar-pegged stablecoin USDC to pay for various state services. Its first cryptocurrency payment has been completed, a fine paid to the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries via the Bitcoin Lightning Network. Although the state accepts cryptocurrency as a payment method, the funds received will be converted into US dollars.
