Donald Trump becomes the first US president to use BTC at a restaurant famous for accepting Bitcoin as a payment method.
According to a Pubkey's X post on September 18, Trump used BTC to buy a burger at a NYC restaurant. Trump, who has been a vocal supporter of Bitcoin in recent months, drew attention for choosing BTC as a payment method.
Trump’s move becomes even more important as the US presidential election approaches. It seems that the former US president’s statements and actions regarding Bitcoin until the next election will be decisive in terms of price.
Bitcoin's Impact on the US Presidential Election
Donald Trump, who once called Bitcoin a “scam,” first defended BTC miners as part of his 2024 election campaign, then spoke at the Bitcoin 2024 conference in Nashville. The former US president, who has changed his stance on cryptocurrencies, has been particularly bullish on BTC. Trump has so far not commented on any altcoins, especially Ethereum.
Unlike Trump, Vice President Harris did not make cryptocurrency a part of her campaign. Experts say it is unlikely that the Biden administration will move away from crypto and blockchain policies.
One of Harris’ advisers said in August that the US vice president would “support policies” to grow the industry. Future Forward, a political action committee supporting the Democratic presidential candidate, is accepting donations in cryptocurrency.
People are eagerly waiting to see which cryptocurrencies will move after the US presidential election. The majority of crypto investors support Trump.
