The US Federal Reserve (Fed) has announced its eagerly awaited interest rate decision.

The interest rate was reduced from 5.50% to 5%. The Fed has thus reduced interest rates for the first time in over four years.

The interest rate reduction was not a surprise to the public. However, there have been questions for a long time about whether the reduction will be made by 25 or 50 basis points.
