Standard Chartered will begin offering crypto custody services in the United Arab Emirates. On September 10, the bank announced that it will begin offering digital asset custody services for Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH). The service will be operated in partnership with Brevan Howard Digital.

The bank signed a memorandum of understanding with the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) on May 10, 2023. It has now been licensed by the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA).

Standard Chartered plans to expand this service to other financial centres. The bank’s CEO, Bill Winters, stated that they believe digital assets are a fundamental part of finance.
