According to Foresight News, Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson opposes the destruction of more than 1.5 billion ADA tokens worth about $500 million in the Cardano treasury. Hoskinson pointed out that these assets are not pre-minted tokens, but are generated through block production and transactions. He believes that destroying these assets is equivalent to stealing from stake pool operators (SPOs) and ADA holders. In addition, in response to the view that the prohibition of token destruction should be written into the constitution, Charles Hoskinson said, "The whole point of the community writing the constitution is to debate such issues and decide whether these issues should be publicly debated or should be fundamental properties of the system. No matter how strongly I feel about this, I have no right to decide this for the system."
Previously, on September 1, Cardano completed the first phase of the Chang hard fork, with some community members supporting the destruction of tokens to boost ADA prices, while others warned of potential harm.
