On September 2, OKX, a leading global cryptocurrency exchange and Web3 technology company, announced that its local entity, OKX SG Pte. Ltd. (OKX SG), has been granted a Large Payment Institution (MPI) license by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) and appointed Gracie Lin as CEO of OKX SG.

Under the licence granted under the Payment Services Act 2019 (PS Act), OKX SG can provide digital payment tokens and cross-border remittance services to users in Singapore, including spot trading (buying and selling) of cryptocurrencies.

As CEO, Gracie Lin will be responsible for the execution of the company’s strategic initiatives, including the development of digital payment token products and services that meet the needs of customers in Singapore.

Gracie Lin has nearly two decades of experience in finance, the public sector, and technology. Prior to joining OKX, she was a member of Grab's management team, responsible for the regional strategy and economics team. Prior to that, she also held various positions at the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) and the sovereign wealth fund GIC, accumulating extensive management, operations, business strategy, and financial regulatory experience. She graduated from the University of Chicago with a bachelor's degree in economics and received a master's degree in international and development economics from Yale University.

Singapore is a core market in OKX’s global development strategy. The approval of the MPI license and the appointment of Gracie Lin mark important milestones for OKX in Singapore.

Gracie Lin, CEO of OKX SG, said: "Singapore is a world-class digital asset hub and an important market for OKX. I am excited to be part of the team and will be committed to building our business here. The MPI license is an important step in our journey and we are more committed than ever to providing our clients with access to digital assets and contributing to community and ecosystem development. I look forward to continuing to engage with our partners, clients and the wider community to better serve them."

OKX SG received in-principle approval for an MPI license from MAS in February 2024 and is in the process of building a world-class team of experts to support the company’s plans to serve local clients in Singapore.
