Durov holds citizenship of Russia, France, Saint Kitts and Nevis, and the United Arab Emirates. French media said he will soon appear in court as a French citizen for allegedly failing to take measures to curb illegal activities on this social platform. He may face charges of terrorism, illegal drug trafficking, fraud, money laundering and child pornography, or face up to 20 years in prison.

Ekaterina Mizulina, head of the Russian Safe Internet Alliance, believes that Durov's arrest in France was a request from the United States. Vladislav Davankov, deputy chairman of the Russian State Duma, urged the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to take immediate action to try to get France to release Durov.

At the same time, the UAE also said it was following up on the case of the founder of Telegram in France.
