Cryptocurrency continues to bring a breath of madness wherever it infiltrates, and yesterday was no exception. As many of you already know, yesterday the official account of the world-famous fast food chain McDonald’s was hacked. The purpose of the hack was to promote a fake meme cryptocurrency on the Solana blockchain that was related to the legendary McDonald’s character Grimace.
This incident has caused a strong reaction in the cryptocurrency community. Billy Markus (Shibetoshi Nakamoto), the creator of the first popular Dogecoin (DOGE) meme, was not far behind. Therefore, he responded to what happened in a rather flat way, saying that it was all very stupid.
According to DOGE's creator, everyone who bought the token either knew the rules of the game and tried to buy and exit quickly, isolating themselves from the newcomers when the scammers "pulled the rug out," or were "really, really, really stupid." What happened? The attacker published a post mentioning the token's name and contract address. In addition, the X account of the fast food empire's marketing director was also hacked for the same purpose. As a result, the market value of the scam token grew to $30 million, and the attackers made about $700,000.
McDonald's has yet to comment on the matter and all posts have been deleted. This is by no means the last time such scams involving official sources from major accounts will occur, McDonald's has more than 5 million such accounts on Instagram. Always be vigilant and think twice before deciding to buy something like this - even if it is an official coin.#杰克逊霍尔年会 #新币挖矿DOGS #MtGox钱包动态
