According to Odaily, the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) has advised cryptocurrency users to utilize hardware wallets to safeguard their digital assets. BSI highlights that hardware wallets offer the highest level of security by storing users' cryptographic keys offline. This method is considered more secure compared to storing assets on third-party platforms such as exchanges or using mobile phones and personal computers for self-custody, which are more vulnerable to hacking attacks. Given these risks, BSI recommends hardware wallets as the best option to protect cryptocurrencies from theft.
