Jupiter co-founder Meow recently published a "Letter to WBTC New and Old Custodians" on social media, in which he mentioned that Bitgo was chosen as a partner a few years ago because they focus on custody work, which is the most critical part of the WBTC project.
He made it clear that the Bitcoin behind WBTC should not be used for other purposes under any circumstances. He did not criticize Bitgo, but affirmed their excellent performance so far and expressed his belief that their original intentions were good.
However, Meow raised some crucial questions that need to be clarified immediately:
Who is responsible for the multi-signature of WBTC? Will BTC be used for other purposes? What are the benefits of this cooperation for both parties and TRON's adoption? What help will cross-jurisdictional cooperation bring? Is it possible to have an independent and respected third party join the multi-signature group as a communicator and signer at the same time?
These issues are not only related to the future of WBTC, but also to the stability of the entire DeFi ecosystem. We look forward to seeing subsequent developments and answers to ensure the transparency and security of WBTC.
Overall: Good news for jup!
