According to Jinshi Data, the summary of the opinions of the Bank of Japan's December meeting showed that policymakers were divided into two camps. One camp tended to spend more time studying the data, while the other camp believed that the conditions for raising interest rates were ripe.
One member said that despite uncertainties in the overseas economy, the Japanese economy is in a state where the degree of monetary easing can be adjusted. The central bank may decide to raise the policy rate in the near future.
Some members also believed that it was necessary to remain patient and monitor the uncertainties in the U.S. economy until these uncertainties subsided.
