According to Cointelegraph, the prediction platform Kalshi said that the probability of Paul Atkins being nominated by Trump as SEC Chairman was 93%. Although it later dropped below 90%, it was still higher than other candidates.
Politico reported that the Trump team has invited Atkins for an interview. Despite reports that Trump may choose Atkins, he has not yet officially announced it on Truth Social.
Even if Kalshi's prediction is favorable, Trump could still choose someone else. He has previously bypassed the short list when nominating U.S. attorney general.
Trump had promised to replace current chairman Gary Gensler during his campaign in favor of the crypto industry. Gensler has announced he will step down on Jan. 20.
