According to U.Today, Ripple President Monica Long recently disclosed plans for a new independent XRP Ledger Foundation. This announcement follows the rebranding of the XRP Ledger Foundation to the Inclusive Financial Technology Foundation (INFTF). Long's revelation came in response to an inquiry from an XRP Ledger community member regarding the future of the XRP Ledger Foundation and Ripple's ongoing support for the XRP Ledger's stability, innovation, and decentralization.

In her response, Long clarified that discussions are ongoing with various stakeholders, including the XRP Ledger Foundation, XRPL Labs, XRPL Commons, and Ripple, about establishing a new independent XRPL Foundation. This new entity will be distinct from the newly named INFTF. Ripple CTO David Schwartz also confirmed these discussions, emphasizing that Ripple is aligned with the XRP Ledger entity on the next steps and that more details will be shared soon.

The rebranding of the XRP Ledger Foundation to INFTF was officially announced on August 6. The foundation explained that the name change reflects its broader mission beyond just the XRP Ledger. The organization aims to promote global social and financial inclusion and has been collaborating with several international organizations over the past year. For instance, it is an associate member of the Organisation for Southern Cooperation, which includes 28 member countries.

The INFTF stated that the rebranding provides an opportunity for various XRP Ledger stakeholders to collaborate and maintain key assets such as the XRP trademark, the Code Repository, and the xrpl.org domain. The foundation believes that being tied to a single technology can be restrictive and that the new name better represents its inclusive goals.
