According to TechFlow, the legal dispute between the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase has escalated again. Court documents filed on Monday show that the two sides are arguing over Coinbase's attempt to subpoena communications and other records from the SEC and its employees, including Chairman Gary Gensler. These records may help Coinbase's defense in the upcoming trial.

Last year, the SEC filed a civil lawsuit against Coinbase, alleging that it operated as an unregistered securities exchange, broker-dealer, and clearing agency and was involved in unregistered securities sales.
