Good News: Binance is Back in India 🇮🇳
Binance Back Online in India After Paying ₹18.82 Crore Fine
The Binance website is now accessible in India. On January 12, 2024, the Government of India blocked URLs of nine offshore crypto exchanges, including Binance, OKX, and KuCoin. These platforms had received show-cause notices from the finance ministry in December 2023 for non-compliance with India’s anti-money laundering laws. KuCoin was the first to register with the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) and, after paying a fine of ₹34.5 lakh, its URL was unblocked in March.
Binance applied for FIU registration in April and was fined ₹18.82 crore, while OKX chose to discontinue its services in India.
Although the Binance website is now accessible, the app is still unavailable on the Play Store and App Store. There has been no official update or announcement from Binance on its social media or blog, but the website's accessibility suggests that the URL has been fully unblocked.
