Last summer, the "fight" between two top technology giants, Musk and Zuckerberg, became a hot topic, but the duel ultimately failed. A year later, Musk again offered to fight Zuckerberg, but this time Zuckerberg did not seem to be willing to accept the challenge.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu delivered a speech at the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday, and Musk also went to Capitol Hill to meet with him. After Musk appeared at the Capitol that day, some reporters followed him and asked a series of questions about the purpose of this visit and the U.S. election.

When a reporter asked if he would fight Zuckerberg offline again, Musk responded: "I'm willing to fight Zuckerberg anywhere, at any time, under any rules."

Musk's statement quickly spread widely on social media, and Zuckerberg later responded to relevant media reports on Meta's social platform Threads. Zuckerberg said: "Do we really want to do this again?"

Last year's "fight" ended in nothing

Threads was the trigger for the "fight" between Musk and Zuckerberg a year ago. In July last year, Meta launched an app to compete with X (formerly Twitter). The media disclosed this news in June last year, and Musk immediately ridiculed Zuckerberg with sharp words on X many times, and said that he would have a "cage fight" with Zuckerberg.

Given Musk's frequent outrageous tweets, few people took his words seriously. However, Zuckerberg said on Instagram that he was willing to accept Musk's challenge.

This drama then went on for more than a month. Not only was it talked about by the public, but Dana White, president of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), was also actively promoting the match and suggested using the Colosseum in Rome as the venue.

Musk said at the time that the showdown between him and Zuckerberg would take place at an epic location in Italy and would be live-streamed on X and Meta.

Just when everyone thought the duel between the two really happened, Musk said that he might need to have a minor surgery first, and the recovery time of the surgery might take several months. After many tugs of war, Zuckerberg also lost his patience. He said on Threads that Musk did not take this matter seriously, so it was time to move on.

Since then, the "fight" between Musk and Zuckerberg came to an end, and neither of them mentioned the topic publicly again until Musk responded to the matter again recently.

Judging from Musk's latest statement, this is very likely another joke. However, to be fair, Musk probably doesn't have much time and energy to spend on a duel with Zuckerberg. Tesla has had poor performance for several consecutive quarters, and Musk's biggest headache now should be how to get Tesla back on track.
