According to Cointelegraph, a group of artists and early testers leaked OpenAI's unreleased text-to-video tool Sora, protesting its failure to pay research and development fees.

The tool was uploaded to HuggingFace, but OpenAI intervened to shut it down. Artists claimed they were used as 'art-washing' and did not receive the compensation and recognition they deserved.

The leakers claimed that hundreds of artists provided unpaid testing and feedback but were excluded from compensation. The Sora tool was shut down hours after going live, with users sharing the generated videos on X.

The leaked version is believed to be a faster 'turbo' version, with code indicating that future customization and style control for videos may be added. OpenAI did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
