According to CoinDesk, Polymarket blocked access for French users on Friday after reports surfaced that the French government is investigating whether it complies with gambling laws.

Although the ban was not reflected in Polymarket's terms of service at the time of the press release, a journalist encountered a digital block when attempting to access the site from a French server via VPN.

The French National Gambling Authority ANJ is concerned about this matter, as a French trader made significant bets on Trump winning the 2024 U.S. presidential election. This ban was first disclosed by the French crypto news site The Big Whale on social media.

Neither Polymarket nor ANJ immediately responded to requests for comment.
