Starknet expects transaction speeds to increase fourfold and fees to decrease fivefold

According to Odaily Planet Daily, StarkWare CEO Eli Ben Sasson said that the transaction speed of Ethereum L2 Starknet will increase fourfold in the next three months and the fees will drop fivefold.

The improvements come from better compilation and faster execution of Cairo, Starknet’s native smart contract language, Sasson said at DevCon 2024 in Bangkok. Starknet will cross the 1,000 TPS milestone and compete with chains such as Solana.

Sasson asserted that Starknet’s TPS will exceed 1,000 in the next three months, and fees will be further reduced, potentially making it the cheapest L2.
