Heather Morgan, known as the “Wall Street Crocodile,” was sentenced for her role in cryptocurrency money laundering after her husband, Lichtenstein, recruited her to help hide the stolen proceeds, according to Bloomberg.

Prosecutors said Morgan and Lichtenstein used sophisticated money laundering techniques, including creating accounts under false identities, transferring funds in small amounts, and depositing and withdrawing funds through cryptocurrency exchanges and dark web markets.

They bought NFTs, gold and Walmart gift cards. The stolen Bitcoin was worth about $71 million at the time and is worth billions of dollars today. Morgan faces two counts, each of which carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison.
