U.S. federal judge Katherine Polk Failla encouraged Coinbase to drop or at least significantly modify its demands for SEC Chairman Gary Gensler's personal communications. Coinbase took particular issue with Gensler's request for documents prior to his inauguration as president. Coinbase's attorney, Kevin Schwartz, stated that Gensler's communications are relevant to the case. However, SEC attorney Jorge Tenreiro stated that Gensler's communications before he became chairman were not relevant to the case.
