OKX, the world's second largest cryptocurrency exchange, plans to use Malta as its headquarters to comply with new MiCA regulations in Europe. 🌍🇲🇹 They had previously targeted France, but they do not want to be associated with a label such as "compatibility is more flexible in Malta". 🇫🇷➡️🇲🇹

The exchange is looking to fill several high-profile roles in Malta, including head of compliance, operations leader and head of internal audit. 🕵️‍♂️👨‍💼👩‍💼

Companies are seeking to register with one of the 27 countries of the European Union to prepare for the upcoming MiCA rules. 🇪🇺📜

Malta is home to many gaming companies and some investment firms and has embraced cryptocurrencies in recent years. 🎮💰

Earlier this year OKX agreed to a 304,000 euro "good faith" settlement with Malta's financial watchdog for some regulatory errors. 💸💸
