US Department of Energy Will Try Its Chance on Bitcoin Mining Twice!

The USA took action for the second time for Bitcoin (BTC) mining.

The first attempt by the US Department of Energy (DOE) to collect information about energy use of crypto mining companies was unsuccessful due to a lawsuit. Now the ministry has rolled up its sleeves to re-evaluate the opinions of cryptocurrency industry participants.

The Energy Administration (EIA), a federal agency within DOE responsible for energy statistics and analysis, held a webinar on Wednesday. In this seminar, he listened to comments from the public, crypto miners and industry participants. These comments will be collected before a proposed regulation will be published in the Federal Record Journal.

In January, the agency proposed a mandatory survey of nearly 500 commercial Bitcoin miners requesting detailed information about their energy use. The survey had been approved as an urgent data collection request by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), which oversees federal agencies and manages the federal budget, so the normal notice and comment process was not followed.

However, this proposal sparked backlash among crypto miners, and the Texas Blockchain Council (TBC) and mining company Riot Platforms filed lawsuits against the DOE, EIA, OMB, and various authorities.
