📣 The Bank of Israel said it is in no hurry to launch its digital shekel, preferring to first monitor the development of the digital euro. 🌐 Bank of Israel Lieutenant Governor Andrew Abir noted that the country wants to see how events unfold for the European Central Bank, which is considering issuing a digital euro by 2027.

🔍 The Bank of Israel began research work on the digital shekel back in 2017, studying the potential benefits and challenges associated with issuing a central bank digital currency (CBDC).

👥 At the end of May, the Bank of Israel launched the “Digital Shekel Challenge,” inviting various sectors to create applications for a potential central bank digital currency.
