BlockBeats reported on July 10 that SBI Digital Markets, the cryptocurrency division of Japanese securities and banking giant SBI Holdings, has appointed a former Bank of Korea official as chief advisor to expand its business in South Korea.

The firm announced Wednesday the appointment of Jai Yung Byun, who previously held several leadership positions at the Bank of Korea and directed the central bank’s international policy planning and foreign exchange analysis. Byun also served as the chief representative of the Bank of Korea’s Washington, D.C., representative office.
