Stablecoin commodity broker Circle has launched its euro-backed stablecoin EURC onto its Base network, according to a July 9 announcement. EURC was previously only available in native form on Avalanche, Ethereum, Solana and Stellar. The addition of Base marks the first time EURC has become available on an Ethereum layer-2.

Circle claimed that the new version will be easier for e-commerce applications to facilitate global commerce. Base versions EURC and US dollar-backed USDC are stated to be “the first stablecoins on Base as the first global commodity to comply with the new Market for Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation.”

However, Base users may have to wait a little longer before making these transactions on their preferred decentralized exchanges. There are some exchanges that have not yet listed the new coin.

PancakeSwap allows transactions through the token's "import" feature after issuing a strong warning to the user. According to the announcement, the correct token address of EURC on the Base mainnet is 0x60a3e35cc302bfa44cb288bc5a4f316fdb1adb42.
