ChainCatcher reported that according to IT Home, developer Pedro Vieito posted a message on the Thread platform two days ago, saying that the ChatGPT app for macOS would store user conversations in plain text. OpenAI responded today that it has updated its app to encrypt chat records stored on Mac devices.

According to Vieito's analysis, since the conversation is stored in plain text outside the sandbox, it also means that the conversation can be accessed by other applications, processes, and even malware running on the Mac without the user's knowledge.
