It is understood that the proposer-builder separation (PBS) is to separate the transactions (builders) in the selected sorted blocks from the roles (proposers) that verify their contents and propose blocks to the network, ensuring the decentralization of block verification while maximizing the profitability of validators on blocks. The specific solution is mev-boost developed by Flashbots. ePBS directly encapsulates PBS into the Ethereum consensus layer, avoiding dependence on relayers and potential failure risks, and can achieve trustless exchange between block proposers and builders, increase network propagation speed, and reduce the workload of validators by delaying verification.
