[Vitalik Buterin admires Musk’s Plan X]
Ethereum co-founder and leader Vitalik Buterin recently shared his appreciation for the Community Notes feature integrated by Elon Musk on the X platform. This innovative feature sparked an enthusiastic response from the cryptocurrency community.
Community Notes is an initiative designed to fact-check information published on the X platform, including information shared by mainstream and niche media. Community Notes participants correct information they believe is wrong or false and post links to sources they believe are credible or rebuttal data.
Buterin praised Community Notes and prediction markets as two of the "flagship social cognitive technologies" of the current decade. Both, he added, are "truth-seeking and democratic, with open participation at their core rather than being dominated by pre-selected elites."
Elon Musk responded to Buterin's post and succinctly agreed, replying: "yeah." The response sparked a positive reaction from the cryptocurrency community. A German political activist posted that she considered Community Notes "the most fair and effective form of fact-checking in any social media application."
The cryptocurrency community also responded enthusiastically to Musk’s support for Buterin’s comments. One user "Ƀitcoin Chris" suggested using Dogecoin to reward Community Notes contributors.
In a recent post, Elon Musk mentioned xAI, the AI startup he founded last year, and its rival ChatGPT chatbot Grok. He revealed the expected release date for the major Grok 2.0 update. Musk acknowledged the problem that existing AI chatbots rely on other large language model (LLM) data training, and said that Grok 2.0 will be greatly improved in this regard after the release. xAI plans to roll out the major update this August, he said.
Different from ChatGPT, Grok's training goal is to pursue truth and honesty, while ChatGPT's training goal is social acceptability (the so-called "political correctness"). Musk believes this is dangerous for humanity in the long run.
