According to TechFlow, the Russian Ministry of Finance has begun disposing of Bitcoin assets confiscated in the investigation of the Infraud hacker group.

The first batch will liquidate about $10 million in Bitcoin assets from former Investigative Committee investigator Marat Tambiev, who was sentenced to 16 years in prison for accepting bribes involving 1,032.1 BTC.

Since Tambiev has decentralized his Bitcoin storage, law enforcement agencies need to apply for court rulings on different wallets. Currently, the first batch of assets is stored in a Ledger Nano X hardware wallet.

Tambiev received Bitcoin bribes several times between 2020 and 2022 and assisted in the transfer of crypto assets worth approximately 13.7 billion rubles. Two other persons involved in the case, one was sentenced to nine years in prison and the other is still at large.
