According to Cointelegraph, a Canadian cryptocurrency forum volunteer moderator went into hiding with his family after kidnappers attempted to abduct him and force him to hand over Bitcoin. The victim claimed the kidnappers were prepared with violent attack equipment, and he and his children successfully escaped.

This incident occurred against a backdrop of increasing cryptocurrency-related robberies, kidnappings, and assaults. The victim stated that the kidnappers may have mistakenly believed he owned 2.5 million Bitcoin due to his posts on Facebook.

Police arrested four suspects, two of whom were charged with conspiracy to commit kidnapping and possession of prohibited weapons, but were released on bail before trial. The victim expressed dissatisfaction with the court's decision.
