Canada’s Conservative Party has elected pro-Bitcoin Ontario MP Pierre Poilievre as its new leader. Poilievre is preparing to run against current Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for the position of Prime Minister in the 2025 federal election.
Poilievre, who has been a public supporter of Bitcoin, has expressed his desire to make Canada a world hub for blockchain and has pledged to fire the central bank governor, audit central bank activities, and halt the development of a central bank digital currency (CBDC) during his tenure as prime minister.
