Indonesia has yet to complete the transfer of cryptocurrency regulation from Bappebti to OJK, ChainCatcher reported. The transition, originally scheduled for January 12, 2025, has been delayed due to a lack of supportive government regulations.

The OJK plans to create a transparent regulatory environment that meets international standards and introduce clearer rules for trading, taxation and cryptocurrency exchange operations, areas that were previously managed by Bappebti with insufficient oversight.

OJK Chairman Mahendra Siregar said discussions and preparations for the regulatory transition were actively ongoing.
