About Theta Fuel (TFUEL)
Theta Fuel is a cryptocurrency that serves as the operational token of the Theta decentralized network. The network was formed with a mission to make enhancements to the video streaming sector by leveraging blockchain technology. Theta Fuel is referred to as the gas of the Theta network. The other network coin, THETA, functions as the primary network governance token for the Theta ecosystem.
Theta Fuel was launched alongside the Theta network Mainnet launch in March 2019. Theta was founded in 2017 by experienced mobile gaming and online advertising startup founders, Mitch Liu and Jieyi Long, who previously worked on VR live-streaming technologies. Theta benefits from a talented advisory board with documented high-level experience in the streaming and business landscapes.
Theta Fuel, known by its token ticker, $TFUEL, is earned by validators and an added layer of network participants called Guardian nodes, based on the implementation scheme of the Theta network. The node operators stake THETA to participate in network validation and receive new TFUEL generated as applications are added to extend the Theta ecosystem. For this reason, TFUEL was conceptualized as an inflationary token at its inception. The initial supply at the launch was reportedly set to be 5 billion.
