About Kava (KAVA)

Kava is a decentralized blockchain built using the Cosmos SDK protocol and implemented through both Cosmos and Ethereum blockchains - making Kava a co-chain platform. Kava exists to make crypto borrowing and lending easy and permissionless through its efficient, co-chain network design. Due to its interoperability achieved through the Cosmos network, the Kava protocol can be bridged with other chains like the BNB Smart Chain.

Kava, incorporated under Kava Labs, was founded in 2018 by entrepreneurs Brian Kerr, Ruaridh O’Donnel and Scott Stuart. The company is based in tech-centered San Francisco, CA. The initial token sale was conducted in 2019 on the Binance Launchpad and the decentralized platform was later released in 2020.

Kava strives to make crypto borrowing simple by making loans available to individuals by locking from a choice of different cryptocurrencies into a secured smart contract. Once locked, users canreceive the agreed loan amount in a native Kava-created stablecoin, USDX. The USDX stablecoin is said to be overcollateralized as it is designed to remain tightly pegged to the US Dollar value.

The protocol operates as a Layer-1, making the ecosystem independent in nature, but compatible with other blockchains to easily integrate assets into the lending and borrowing scheme and Kava swap pools.

KAVA Cryptocurrency Token

The KAVA token serves as the platform's governance token, allowing holders to vote on protocol changes and upgrades. It also acts as a collateral asset for loans on the platform and is used for paying fees and participating in yield farming. Kava price is updated and available in real-time on Binance.

People Also Ask: Other Questions About Kava

  1. What is KAVA Used For?

KAVA tokens are primarily used to reward Kava platform users who mint the native ecosystem stablecoin USDX. The stability of USDX is maintained through a system of collateralized loans, where KAVA tokens are used as collateral to back the stablecoin. If the value of the underlying KAVA collateral decreases, additional KAVA tokens must be added to maintain the stability of the USDX stablecoin. KAVA is also used in network governance functions to give users the ability to vote on ecosystem rules and policies that affect its direction.

  2. How Does Network Consensus and Validation Work on Kava?

Kava uses an optimized co-chain Layer-1 blockchain design that combines the architecture of Cosmos and Ethereum in its fundamental network make-up. The Kava protocol uses the Cosmos Tendermint Proof-of-Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism to achieve settlement and finality within its network.

The Tendermint scheme supports the co-chain environment of Cosmos and Ethereum, which gives Kava platform users access to swap dozens of assets for others, and engage in crypto lending and borrowing.

  3. Who Is The Founder of Kava?

Kava Labs was co-founded by Brian Kerr, Ruaridh O’Donnel and Scott Stuart in 2018. The KAVA token was not launched until 2019, followed by the release of the Kava platform in 2020. Each of the Kava co-founders have documented backgrounds in business leadership positions.

  4. What is the Maximum Token Supply of KAVA?

KAVA is an inflationary token, so the maximum supply is not established. At the time of writing, the current circulating supply of KAVA tokens stands at 405,613,992. It is reported that 100 million KAVA tokens were initially issued through three private sale rounds done on the Binance Launchpad at the launch of the KAVA token.

  5. What Makes Kava Different From Others?

The Kava protocol is capable of bridging assets not only on Ethereum and Cosmos, but also related networks like the BNB Smart Chain and others, built from the same underlying EVM network infrastructure. Kava makes crypto borrowing and lending simple through its network design and reportedly fast transaction settlement.

The co-chain architecture implemented in the Kava network design makes it compatible to add over 30 assets within the platform for crypto swapping, borrowing and lending
