Movement Labs joins Polygon Agglayer, bags $160M TVL commitment for mainnet
Ethereum layer-2 network Movement Labs has announced an integration with Polygon Labs’ AggLayer to further blockchain interoperability and liquidity. In parallel, investors and a Web3 project committed $160 million in total value locked (TVL) toward Movement Labs’ mainnet launch.
On July 30, Movement Labs joined AggLayer — a central component of Polygon 2.0 — to enable unified liquidity across Move Virtual Machine-based layer-2 chains, all AggLayer-connected chains, and the Ethereum network.

With the renewed Polygon AggLayer thesis, MATIC will be migrated to POL. For MATIC stakers, there will be no manual migration required. Your staked MATIC will automatically be convertible to POL, and will accrue staking rewards while staked.
POL launch is expected on September 4th, 2024. While POL is intended to fully replace MATIC, MATIC and POL will coexist and both serve for consensus and staking. MATIC will essentially become a wrapper token for POL which will limit the migration work for users, stakers, and developers.
