**Jump's Kariya, Who Rose from Intern to Crypto Leader, Leaves Trading Giant**

Kanav Kariya, who rose from intern to head of cryptocurrencies at Chicago-based Jump Trading by age 25, has left the company. This news comes after a Fortune report that the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) is investigating the company's crypto activities.

Kariya announced on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday that he is leaving, saying, "I’m leaving today with both a heavy heart and great excitement about the road ahead."

Kariya was appointed president in 2021. Since then, the company has faced several challenges. In early 2022, the Wormhole cryptocurrency bridge backed by Jump was hacked for over $300 million, which Jump covered out of its own funds. Additionally, the collapse of Do Kwon's Terra/Luna project led to criminal charges against Kwon. U.S. officials claim Jump earned over $1 billion from the Terra/Luna ecosystem before it collapsed.

Reflecting on his time at Jump, Kariya said, "Today marks the end of an incredible personal journey for me. I’m leaving with a set of awesome relationships and invaluable experiences." Now in his late 20s, he plans to stay involved with the portfolio companies he has worked with and take some time to process the eventful years.
