Donald Trump, a presidential candidate who has been vocal about his support for Bitcoin, has dubbed himself the “Crypto President” in an effort to solidify his relationship with the rapidly expanding cryptocurrency ecosystem.

At a fundraiser in San Francisco on Thursday, the 45th president of the US, Donald Trump, was in attendance. During his address, Trump made fun of Democrats for their attempts to regulate the cryptocurrency industry. On top of that, he declared himself the cryptocurrency champion. An ex-ambassador to Austria and IT executive headquartered in San Francisco, Trevor Traina, claims that Trump said “he would be the crypto president.”

New and Burgeoning Industry

Speaking at an event sponsored by digital venture capitalists Chamath Palihapitiya and David Sacks, Trump said that he had raised $12 million. Trump has maintained his position as a crypto industry trailblazer in recent months, using them to his advantage as he gears up for the November elections. He has used his campaign to express his enthusiasm for cryptocurrency.

In addition to pledging his support for the emerging asset class, Trump recently made the announcement that he began accepting cryptocurrency contributions for his campaign. His acceptance of cryptocurrency payments and contributions makes him the first forthcoming election candidate to do so.

If re-elected, the Republican has publicly pledged to back crypto startups and those in the larger crypto ecosystem, as he did two weeks ago.

The heavy hand of regulation in the sector, he said, was to blame for the mass exodus of companies in the U.S. The emerging ecosystem was characterized by Donald Trump as a “new and burgeoning industry.”
