- Payment giant PayPal launches "PYUSD" stablecoin on Solana blockchain.

- Expansion aims to leverage SOL's high transaction speeds, low costs, and near-instant settlement.

"The issues with legacy payment rails are well- known. They tend to be slow and expensive, involve too many intermediaries, require complicated arrangements such as pre-funding and liquidity requirements, and exclude the unbanked around the world."

- PayPal launched "PYUSD" back in August 2023 and the asset boasts a current market cap of around $400 million.

- That said, the asset has not been without controversy and, in November 2023, PayPal was issued a subpoena by the SEC in relation to the "PYUSD" stablecoin itself.
