On Monday, the S&P 500 closed down 0.3%, the Nasdaq lost 1.1%, and the Dow Jones added 260 points. Markets are preparing for key PCE inflation data and comments from several Fed officials scheduled for this week to assess monetary policy outlooks. The energy sector performed the best, while the tech sector lagged as the pause in the AI rally continued: Nvidia (-6.7%) extended its losses for the third day, trailing behind Microsoft (-0.5%) and Apple (+0.3%) in market value. ResMed shares dropped 13.2%, marking the biggest percentage decline since August 2023. ResMed's shares fell after Eli Lilly (+0.6%) announced that its weight-loss drug Zepbound reduces the severity of sleep apnea. ResMed produces devices for treating sleep apnea and COPD. Conversely, Meta shares gained 0.8% following news of an AI partnership with Apple. Affirm shares surged 12.8% after Goldman Sachs initiated coverage with a "Buy" rating and a target price of $47.
