According to PANews, Ordinals inscriptions have surpassed the 65 million mark on April 11, less than a year and three months after their launch in January 2023. The data, provided by Dune, also shows that there are only eight days left until the next Bitcoin halving event.
In addition, Dune's data reveals that, to date, Ordinals have generated over $458 million in network fees for Bitcoin miners. Mithil Thakore, CEO of Velar, commented on this milestone, stating that it indicates an increasing demand for Bitcoin's block space, as well as a need for more Bitcoin Layer2 networks.
Nash Lee, co-founder of MerlinSwap, suggested that if the current adoption rate continues, BTCFi could potentially rival Ethereum-based DeFi innovations in the future.
