CryptoQuant CEO Ki Young Ju recently shared insights on X about Bitcoin holding patterns. He stated that those currently selling Bitcoin likely haven't held it for more than three years, as veteran holders tend not to sell. Ju highlighted three distinct groups of Bitcoin investors based on their holding periods and selling behaviours.
Firstly, bull market investors, who hold Bitcoin for six months to two years, tend to sell most of their holdings when Bitcoin approaches its previous all-time high. Secondly, bear market investors, withholding periods of two to three years, have sold approximately 67% of their holdings. Lastly, veteran investors, who have held Bitcoin for over three years, show historical highs in the UTXO supply across all age bands, indicating their reluctance to sell regardless of market conditions.
